Court: Insurers must cover mental health illnesses like physical ailments

The ruling will affect millions of Californians, given that so many have purchased insurance plans not governed by ERISA.

A California appeals court on Tuesday said the state's Mental Health Parity Act of 1999 requires insurers to cover mental health illnesses in the same way they cover physical illnesses.
