Fact or Fiction?
Column by Ronald A. Zumbrun - Since 1981, the public has believed it has a legal right to use private beaches at Lake Tahoe. This belief has been encouraged by law enforcement officials who took the position that the area between the high- and low-water marks is a public right-of-way and not subject to trespass laws. As to the remaining portion of private beaches, the property owner or the owner's agent must ask a trespasser to leave the property.
