U.S. Sues Ventura County for Deaf Bias

The Justice Department filed a civil lawsuit Thursday charging Ventura County with discrimination for not hiring a job applicant four years ago because she is deaf.

WASHINGTON - The Justice Department filed a civil lawsuit Thursday charging Ventura County with discrimination for not hiring a job applicant four years ago because she is deaf.

The applicant, Lee Ann Unchangco, worked as a childrens' social worker in Los Angeles County "with distinction for over 10 years" but was not hired in Ventura County specifically due to her disability, according to the complaint...
