Three core elements in a lawsuit are: facts, law and the financing. Litigants do not always have the wherewithal for financing. Contingency arrangements are one way to allow plaintiffs who otherwise cannot afford to bring a lawsuit to do so by sharing the recovery with the party's lawyer.
