Health benefits: new W-2 reporting requirements for employers

Welcome employers to 2012 - and with it new Form W-2 reporting requirements for the cost of employee group health insurance coverage and other health benefits. These were added by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in March 2010. Such reporting is for informational purposes only; does not affect the employer's tax liability; and does not tax what are otherwise tax-free health benefits to the employee and family members.
