Firm Pays $700,000 Pollutant Penalty for Sawdust

SAN FRANCISCO - Louisiana-Pacific Corp. has agreed to pay $700,000, including fines and physical improvements at an aging particleboard plant it operates in Arcata, in order to settle civil and criminal charges accusing the facility of releasing an unusual pollutant - sawdust.
