L.A. Judge to Become Top DHS Official

L.A. Superior Court Judge Alice Hill has confirmed she's been tapped to serve as counselor to the secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, her former law school classmate Janet Napolitano.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Alice C. Hill is leaving the bench to become a top official in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Hill, who leaves the court May 29, said she will be taking on special projects and generally assisting department Secretary Janet Napolitano with legal and administrative matters. She begins her new job as special counselor to the secretary on June 15.
