State Justices Let Guardians Adopt Children After Two Years

The California Supreme Court cleared the way Thursday for children across the state to be permanently adopted by people who stepped in to care for them when their parents could not.

The California Supreme Court cleared the way Thursday for children across the state to be permanently adopted by people who stepped in to care for them when their parents could not.

The court unanimously upheld a 2004 law that allows adoptions to take place after two years of guardianship.
