Attorneys Can't Practice Law Like It's a Team Sport

Most lawyers are aware that the Rules of Professional Conduct say that they cannot "form a partnership with a person who is not a lawyer" under Rule 1-310 and that they cannot "share legal fees with a person who is not a lawyer" under Rule 1-320. However, most attorneys don't realize the broad sweep of these rules and that two other rules or statutes also constrain financial associations that involve similar situations.
