Discerning a Balanced Response

For many of us, the evil of Tuesday's attacks remains strangely distant. Despite all the images and talk, we are still in shock. As that shock wears off, the pain will go deeper, into blood, muscle and bone until it becomes part of us. This is what happens when death, especially violent death, takes one of "us." Then the real challenge will begin. Can we keep our heads and our hearts in the face of evil's taunts?
