The recent decision of Pavlovich v. Superior Court ( DVD Copy Control Ass'n, Inc. ), 2000 DJDAR 8325 (Cal. App. Aug. 7, 2001), has placed another arrow in the quiver of plaintiffs who feel they have been victimized by tortious acts accomplished via the Internet. In its broadest reading, the opinion can be cited for the proposition that California courts may exercise jurisdiction over defendants who have none of the traditional "minimum contacts" with the state - if those defendants posted material on the Internet knowing that it could cause harm in California.
