Legislation aims to help businesses avoid ADA suits

A San Francisco elected official has introduced new legislation aimed at helping businesses avoid disability access suits by making it easier for them to fix accessibility problems.

For years, small businesses have been hit with disabled access lawsuits. Targeted by what critics call serial plaintiffs, mom-and-pop retailers have paid dearly to make entry ways, counters and rest rooms wheelchair accessible - or shut their doors because they didn't have the money to do so.
