Judges Must Halt Abuse of Family Law Judicial Orders

Forum Column By Fred Silberberg The frequency with which orders concerning a party's personal conduct are issued is much higher in family law cases than in other types of cases. Because family court proceedings are personal in nature, the resolution of these cases often turns on compliance with these court orders. Unfortunately, however, judicial officers often decline to enforce these rules, and when they do, the penalty is often minimal or nonexistent.
