Seeking Sonar Leeway, Navy Fails at 9th Circuit
SAN FRANCISCO - With a string of losses under its belt, the Navy's last hope in its battle with environmentalists over sonar use off the Southern California coast lies with the U.S. Supreme Court. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals late Friday rejected the Navy's emergency appeal to overturn court-ordered limits on the use of midfrequency active sonar during training exercises in a ruling issued.
