OC hearing begins that may end with judge ruling out death penalty for confessed mass murderer

An Orange County sheriff's lieutenant said Tuesday that 68 boxes with 30 years of information about informants have not been fully examined, which prompted a judge to question the diligence of sheriff's officials dealing with the ongoing informant scandal. The judge said he is underwhelmed by the efforts to comply with his discovery order.
