During the recent heat wave that swept California, many of the people who perished from the extreme heat were senior citizens. The media described these victims as the "invisible citizens." What was not reported about these "invisible citizens" is that they often are the victims of elder abuse, a shockingly common crime that is treated with callous indifference by the criminal court system.
