Court Upholds Discovery Law

The California Supreme Court on Thursday upheld a discovery law that allows death penalty lawyers to get information used to challenge convictions.

The California Supreme Court Thursday upheld a discovery law that allows death penalty lawyers to get information used to challenge convictions.

The 2002 law came under fire from Contra Costa Deputy District Attorney Douglas MacMaster, who argued that it was an unconstitutional amendment to Proposition 115, a voter initiative that set limits on discovery in criminal cases.
