Justices Seem Reluctant to Let Securities Antitrust Cases Proceed
WASHINGTON - Expressing concern for U.S. financial markets, the Supreme Court seemed hesitant Tuesday to allow plaintiffs to proceed with two antitrust class actions alleging that the nation's leading investment banks conspired to inflate the prices of initial stock offerings for hundreds of technology companies during the dot-com boom of the late 1990s.
