Groundwater pumping in Central Valley is target of lawsuit

Environmentalists accuse Stanislaus County of failing to look at the effects of increased well drilling.

Two environmental groups have sued Stanislaus County, accusing it of overlooking the potential harm from increased groundwater pumping in the area. The lawsuit comes as farms and cities across the state are looking to use more groundwater to cope with a drought that has diminished flows in the state's rivers.
