Pair of bills would extend time limits for sex abuse victims

A rare three-page veto by Gov. Jerry Brown last fall killed a bill that would've extended the statute of limitations in child sex abuse cases. Now the author of that legislation is back with two bills designed to address Brown's concerns.

A rare three-page veto by Gov. Jerry Brown last fall killed a bill that would've allowed past victims of childhood sexual abuse to file new lawsuits against churches and private groups that failed to protect them. Now the author of that legislation, Sen. Jim Beall, D-San Jose, is pushing legislation to give victims in future abuse cases more time to pursue their claims.
