Judge finalizes Kmart cashier settlement in suitable seating case

A federal judge gave final approval Tuesday to a $280,000 settlement between Kmart Corp. and a class of cashiers from two California stores who say they were denied seated workstations.

A federal judge gave final approval Tuesday to a $280,000 settlement between Kmart Corp. and a class of cashiers from two California stores who say they were denied seated workstations.


Kmart will pay the two name plaintiffs $1,000 each, and the plaintiffs' attorneys will recover $140,000 in costs. The remaining money will be split between 217 class members from stores in Tulare and Redlands and ...
