New Law Prohibits Use of State Money to Discourage Unions

Berman and Kerry McCoy - 2002 has brought significant developments in the ongoing struggle to determine the validity and scope of AB1889 - a new law that prohibits employers from using state funds to encourage or discourage unionization. AB1889 went into effect on Jan. 1, 2001, and is codified in Sections 16645 to 16649 of the Government Code.
