College students accused of sexual misconduct on campus, including severe cases of rape and assault, are often "tried" in campus judicial systems rather than in courts of law. Such campus proceedings typically lack many, if not all, of the due process protections to which the accused would be entitled in our legal system - a problem that has worsened significantly in recent years following aggressive federal intervention.
