Fairly Cast

The State Bar these days, unlike the Tareyton smokers in the old cigarette ad, would rather switch than fight. Last month, the bar folded its appeal of the long-running Brosterhous case, in which the judge ruled that the bar had improperly spent mandatory dues money on ideological or political activities. This month, the bar reached agreement with me and other critics to head off our free-speech lawsuit by reforming the way the bar runs its election for its Board of Governors.
