Leaders Launch Violence Helpline

LOS ANGELES - Local leaders Thursday launched a telephone "helpline" aimed at reducing violence in Los Angeles streets and homes. The phone line is a "supportive listening service" that links callers with city and county agencies that can offer assistance and will follow up to ensure the help provided by the agencies was effective, according to City Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas' office.
