Decisions Establish Pace of Water Pollution

Wick - The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals plunged twice into the murky waters of TMDLs - the water-pollution acronym du jour - this spring, ruling on appeals by an environmental group and loggers and farmers about "total maximum daily loads." TMDLs are the maximum quantity of a pollutant that a water body can receive on a daily basis without violating standards under the Clean Water Act.
