Social Security Off-Limits To Cover Overdraft Fees

SAN FRANCISCO - Banks cannot take money from customers' direct deposit of Social Security and disability benefits to cover overdrafts and penalty fees in the event the customer bounces a check, a federal appeals court ruled Thursday.
