When are parents required to support an adult child?
California family law requires parents to support adult children who cannot support themselves, but fails to provide further guidance.

California law requires parents to support adult children who cannot support themselves or who have incapacities. Family Code Section 3910 says the "father and mother have an equal responsibility to maintain, to the extent of their ability, a child at whatever age, who is incapacitated from earning a living and without sufficient means."
The Family Code, however, does not provide much further guidance on adult child support. What we do know is that support for a disabled adult child...
