Legislation key in battle to unlock cellphones

The new chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, Tom Wheeler, thinks that it should be legal to unlock your cellphone. Last month, he told this to the Senate Commerce Committee.

The new chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, Tom Wheeler, thinks that it should be legal to unlock your cellphone. One June 18, he told this to the Senate Commerce Committee. He stated that he would like to see the current ban on unlocking cellphones overturned. He went further by criticizing the Library of Congress' decision last fall to deny consumers the right to unlock their phones and bring them to different carriers.
