A little-noticed amendment in the massive immigration overhaul bill could have big implications for the Eastern District of California.
The bill that passed through the Senate Thursday includes a provision authorizing eight new permanent district court judgeships in the Southwest U.S. states on the border with Mexico, including three in California's Eastern District.
