Judges can ask lawyers to help their court, statewide ethics committee opines

Judges can ask attorneys to meet with legislators in an effort to secure more money for the judiciary, but they cannot ask attorneys to help alleviate a court's budget woes however lawyers see fit, according to a draft opinion issued Wednesday by a statewide judicial ethics committee.
