Generic drugmakers score victory in U.S. Supreme Court

Defense attorneys on Monday cheered a U.S. Supreme Court ruling, which held that someone who takes a generic drug cannot sue the manufacturer for warning labels that are consistent with their brand-name counterparts.

California defense attorneys heralded a U.S. Supreme Court ruling Monday protecting generic drugmakers from lawsuits over warning labels.


The court ruled that someone who takes a generic drug cannot sue the manufacturer for not adequately warning them of possible side effects - so long as the generic warning label matches its brand-name equivalent.
