Concerns over proposed fee rules are unfounded

Lawrence Schonbrun's June 17 article was titled "Proposed rules encourage 'sky's the limit' fee gouging." According to Schonbrun, because proposed Rule 1.5 of the California Rules of Professional Conduct applies only to unconscionable fees, it condones lawyers charging unreasonable fees. Schonbrun maintains that the state Supreme Court should reject the proposed rule for that reason.
