Litigants entitled to full explanations of decisions

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR COLUMN

So Justice Stephen J. Kane thinks most cases should only have two-paragraph opinions. [Profile of Justice Stephen J. Kane, June 13]. This, of course, would encourage dishonest justices (yes, they are out there). If a group of justices is inclined to a particular result, in spite of the applicable law, they would be free to do this. There would be no need to support the conclusion of the court.
