Creator of Iconic Obama Poster Claims Fair Use

Stanford Law School Professor Mark Lemley, along with colleague Anthony Falzone, filed a preemptive lawsuit Monday to stop the Associated Press from suing a Los Angeles artist whose iconic poster of President Barack Obama was based on a 2006 news photograph.

SAN JOSE - A Los Angeles artist whose iconic poster of President Barack Obama was based on a 2006 Associated Press photograph tried in court Monday to block the news organization from filing a complaint for copyright infringement against his work.
