Stores don't have to keep life saving medical devices on site, 9th Circuit rules

But one judge wrote separately to implore big box stores to "recognize their moral obligation" to maintain defibrillators on site and encourage the state Legislature to pass a law requiring them to do just that.

Bowing to a ruling by the state Supreme Court, a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel on Tuesday dismissed a case by the kin of a woman who died of cardiac arrest at a Target Corp. store because it said the store was not legally bound to maintain a potentially life-saving medical device.
