Ethics group OKs cooperation on funding

A statewide ethics committee gave judges the go-ahead to ask attorneys to help convince lawmakers that courts need more money but warned judges to avoid conflicts of interest.

A statewide judicial ethics committee on Friday gave judges the go-ahead to ask attorneys to help convince lawmakers that courts need more money. But the committee warned that judges should avoid creating any appearance of coercion, favoritism or conflict of interest.


Lobbying for court funding has become a hot issue in light of budget cuts that have hammered the judicial branch.
