State Settles Case Over Sidewalks

Millions of disabled Californians have reached a settlement with the Department of Transportation over claims the agency's pedestrian pathways are inaccessible.

Millions of disabled Californians have reached a settlement with the state Department of Transportation over class action claims that the agency's pedestrian pathways are not accessible, according to court documents filed Sunday.

The terms of the settlement were not available Monday. Estimates to bring the pathways into compliance range from $2 billion to as much as $24 billion. <...
