Guards Win Furlough Ruling

An Alameda County judge's decision that correctional officers must be paid for working on furlough days is another sign the state's "one size fits all" method of imposing cuts could be breaking down.

In yet another sign that the state's "one size fits all" method of imposing furloughs on state employees could be breaking down, an Alameda County Superior Court judge ruled Thursday that correctional officers must be paid for the furlough days on which they're forced to work.
