Can Schools Say No to Speech? Maybe, if It Promotes Drugs
In an important case that could place new limits on the free-speech rights of students, the U.S. Supreme Court wrestled Monday with whether the Constitution should protect a student banner proclaiming “Bong Hits 4 Jesus,” a meaningless marijuana-themed message that sparked a First Amendment firestorm when the school principal ripped the banner down.
