Ruling Weakens Attorney Fee Awards

SAN FRANCISCO - Class counsel may find it harder to win fat fees thanks to a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals opinion that says a Southern California federal judge abused his discretion by failing to explain why he OK'd a $2.2 million fee award in a securities fraud case.
