Case Against Reliant Hits a Skid
SAN FRANCISCO - First, the U.S. attorney's office in San Francisco wouldn't allow a major energy fraud case to be decided by a judge instead of a jury. Then, a week before trial in their commodities manipulation case against Reliant Energy Services, prosecutors filed a new indictment that - at least according to defense attorneys - substantially altered the charges.
