The U.S. Supreme Court is considering a property-rights case, Palazzolo v. Rhode Island, that could advance freedom and property rights across the nation, although maybe nowhere more than in Southern California. For years, the Bolsa Chica wetlands and upland near Huntington Beach have been the focus of wrangling, with regulators unreasonably bent on blocking any feasible proposal by the owners to build homes, no matter how sensitive the plans have been to the ecology.
