Justices: Inmates Can't Sue State Officials

In a victory for California state officials, the U.S. Supreme Court Tuesday reversed a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that allowed a number of hospitalized sexual predators in California to pursue a lawsuit over alleged mistreatment in a public hospital.

WASHINGTON - In a victory for California officials, the U.S. Supreme Court reversed a 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling Tuesday that had allowed nine hospitalized sexual predators in California to sue the state over alleged mistreatment in a public hospital. Hunter v. Hydrick, 07-958.
