Supreme Court Questions Key Voting Laws

Clearly troubled by the burden placed on states covered by a restrictive provision of the Voting Rights Act, Justice Anthony M. Kennedy appeared set Wednesday to play the decisive role in a case that could result in the U.S. Supreme Court striking down a vital part of one of the nation's signature civil rights laws.
