State law would sever surveillance cooperation between state, federal officials

SB 828 would ban all state agencies, officials and corporations that provide services to California from helping federal officials collect electronic data or metadata without a warrant.

Two state senators introduced a bill Monday to bar both public and private actors from aiding the federal government in spying or collecting surveillance data on Californians.
