High court may weigh in on 'suitable seating'

Cases seek penalties for JPMorgan Chase Bank and CVS Pharmacy, alleging they did not provide cashiers or tellers with seated work stations.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday asked the state Supreme Court to weigh in on two "suitable seating" cases pending in federal court.


The cases seek penalties under California law for JPMorgan Chase Bank NA and CVS Pharmacy Inc., alleging the companies did not provide their cashiers or tellers with seated work stations.
