A nightmarish scenario has unfolded in Massachusetts. Annie Dookhan, a forensic technician who handled 40,000 criminal drug cases over nine years, admitted she faked lab results. Now the state's court system has been inundated with motions for new trials by defendants in drug cases. Thus far, at least 1,100 criminal cases have been dismissed or dropped because of tainted evidence.
