SEC push to help whistleblowers place companies and their lawyers in a bind

Under pressure from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, more companies are finding it is difficult to balance their desire to protect confidential information with the requirements of the Dodd-Frank Act.

Adam Levine claims that an executive at TPG Capital Management LP was hostile to his internal complaints. In fact, if Levine had included him on one particular email complaining of potential violations of U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission rules, the executive said he would have "gutted" Levine "like a carp," Levine claims.
