Partner Lateral Moves Remain Daunting Prospect

Each autumn brings with it an increase in the number of law-firm partners contemplating a change of venue, as they look forward to the approaching profit-distribution season (typically January and February) and the opportunity it affords to move to greener pastures without risking forfeiture of their share of the previous year's harvest. But while partner defections have become commonplace, the process of picking up a practice and moving it elsewhere remains daunting and perilous to the uninitiated and uninformed.
